Rabbi Yael Vurgan

Kehilat Shaar HaNegev
Ramat HaNegev

Q: What are your community’s greatest challenges?
A: The great challenge I manage is the geographic distance of my community in the Negev and old models of thinking.  Along with challenges we all face in finding excellent and effective human resources.

Q: Who inspires you and in what way?
A: I am daily inspired by my congregants, from the youth, and from colleagues. Also from the kibbutzim themselves that excel at building community.

Q: What are the greatest opportunities that exist for your community?
A: This is an auspicious moment – full of possibilities – for egalitarian and pluralistic Israeli Judaism.  We have wonderful opportunities to meaningfully connect people and communities to the Jewish tradition.
