The focus of my philanthropy is forwarding social justice through education. And so much social injustice in our world is created by the lack of equal opportunity.
The orientation that guides my philanthropic work is identifying structural issues in society that create and preserve unequal opportunities and barriers for success. Everyone should have the same chance for economic advancement. Everyone should have the same fair shot to achieve personal fulfillment. I have a fundamental distaste for beureaucracies that entrench and protect unfair access to resources and opportunity.
The Honey Foundation for Israel very much fits into my philanthropic priorities. Everyone should have access to Judaism. Everyone should have access to a type of Judaism and Jewish community that will work for them. The Honey Foundation’s goal of supporting spiritual leaders who are trying to create communities that will allow more Jews to have access to the riches of our cultural history has always been one of my Jewish philanthropic goals. Without fair access, Jewish life cannot flourish. I am proud of the work we are doing for the Jewish people.
