The philosophy that we bring to our philanthropy is that we want to help leverage innovation and creativity to make the world a better and kinder place.
We are drawn to people who think in ways that are out of the box; to people who want to forge their own unique path. We enjoy and want to support people who bring a fresh approach to seeing old problems.
Unfortunately, we live in a world which is too fragmented. People are quick to label other people and communities that are not their own. And these labels often divide us. They keep us from really seeing the basic humanity of our fellow human beings.
Jon and I invest in organizations that work to bring down these boundaries. We are interested in bringing people together – people who have different ideas and values, coming together with open hearts and mutual respect. We are passionate about creating spaces where people feel truly seen and appreciated.
Jewish communities also have work to do on these fronts. We need to create a Jewish world that is more accepting of different notions of Judaism and ways of being Jewish. We need to support leaders who build Jewish communities that are open and truly respectful of diversity. That’s not always how it’s been but it is the world we need to build.
I could not be more excited by the work of the Honey Foundation for Israel. The entrepreneurial approach of the Honey Foundation completely aligns with our philosophy. We are supporting spiritual leaders who are nurturing communities that are open, welcoming, accepting and exciting.
Our work together is truly making the world a better and kinder place.
