Q: What do you most enjoy learning in the Beit Midrash?

A: As of today: “Rabbi Abba Bar Yudan said: Every blemish that God deems unfit for an animal sacrifice, God deems fine for human beings,  God deemed animals unfit if they are “blind, broken or scarred.”   But God welcomes all human beings with “A broken or crushed heart.”

Rabbi Alexandri said: This layman, if he uses broken utensils, it is demeaning to him.  But the vessels of The Almighty are all broken, as it is said, ‘The Lord is near to the brokenhearted,” “God dwells in the places with those of broken spirit.'” (Vayikra Rabbah, Parsha 7)

Q: What are your dreams for your community?

A: To create a home where everyone feels they belong, where the Jewish tradition belongs to everyone.

Q: What are the challenges you face on your journey to achieving your professional goals?

A: Dealing with antagonism towards Judaism in light of the reality in Israel.

Q: What are the greatest opportunities that exist for your community?

A: Creativity – creating a renewed Judaism through artists and creativity.  And we hope to open our own physical place in the future.
